After a short hiatus, we return with our 24th Astrocast courtesy of Brooklyn based producer kuxxan SUUM. In addition to producing his own unique form of free-jazz inspired bass music, he's is also responsible for co-operating the free-label End Fence, which has released music by Doctor Jeep, Archie Pelago, as well as SUUM himself.
As we learned in our interview, his unique moniker is informed by Mayan culture, but not so much by the apocalyptic view that many associate with it. Instead he mentions how the calendar is "cyclical" and "regenerative" and this theme is present throughout his mix. It's full of moody electronic and ethnic inspired tunes, a handful of which are by SUUM and related producer peers.
