Brighton-based SP beat wizard _lip (pronounced 'limpid') is one with his machines, utilizing his Roland SP hardware samplers to craft filthy fuzzy hip-hop instrumentals out of the N64's iconic, nostalgic audioscape. This mix showcases his lo-fi sound in all its faded, warbling, crackling glory.
_lip also actively produces under innumerable other monikers, never focusing any one sonic fingerprint for too long. At least half this mix is original. As an audio ghost, _lip has up until now remained barely traceable, but his recently founded SLF Tapes digilabel (sevenleggedface.blogspot.com) is poised to serve as homebase for his efforts as well as those of other members of the international SP beat community. Inaugurating the catalogue is a 5-track EP from _lip's Warm Thighs moniker.
